I do not harken from the big state of Texas, but rather the midwest, with most of my years spent in Iowa (Texas is playing catch up now!).
My design journey began after a couple of well timed conversations with my parents and one well loved art professor at the local community college. "You need to stop coasting and apply yourself. You're talented-make something of it.." was the general sentiment. After a trip to a portfolio day in Kansas City with just about every piece of art I had ever done, I was hooked and ready to do it.
In 1999, I graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design with my degree in communication design. I had already developed "A Girl Creative" name and had some freelance projects already tucked under my belt. So in 2003, I made the rather impetuous decision to make the Texas leap; making one more and starting my own freelance design studio didn't seem like that big of a deal. Now, here we are 8 years later, still working with some fantastic clients and tackling new challenges in logo design, web design and print design projects every day.
Well Mr. Dutton, I hope I made you proud.
